OUR ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES
Acupuncture is an effective form of health care that has been practiced for thousands of years. It is the insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific acupuncture points on the body. It is sometimes easier to understand how it works if it is described with familiar medical terms.
What happens is that muscle spasms are released and connective tissue is relaxed. It strengthens the immune system, increases nerve conduction, increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, and releases endorphins for pain. The body is brought back into homeostasis – balance, optimizing our body’s natural resources. On an energetic level, it helps move and consolidate qi (pronounced chee) which is the body’s natural life force.
Functional Medicine: The Key to Total Health Optimization
What Is Functional Medicine?
It is the use of deep investigative labs that look for the root causes of disease. Patients are then treated with targeted supplementation, detoxes, and coaching to achieve health independence.
We test for ROOT causes such as:
- Food Intolerances
- Nutritional Deficiencies
- Adrenal Function
- Leaky Gut
- Heavy Metals
…..and much more
At Root Healing Wellness, we specialize in MA48, which is a specialized school of acupuncture that only a few people in the United States practice. It is the only form of acupuncture that has consistent results with restoring vision. We utilize an integrated, whole-body health approach that combines Traditional Chinese Medicine, functional medicine, and other cutting-edge therapies.
The needles are not placed near the eyes and are in fact mostly near the hands and feet. It is a comprehensive therapy that includes acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cupping, electrical stimulation, and dietary changes.

Chinese herbal medicine, though not well known in America, has been practiced for over 5000 years. Individual herbs are combined in a formula which is tailor made for each patient’s specific constitution and condition. Formulas often contain multiple herbs that act together synergistically to boost the body’s resources and address the patient’s pattern. Herbal medicine is safe and free from most of the side effects of “Western” (allopathic) drugs if prescribed correctly according to proper TCM pattern diagnosis. Many allopathic drugs have herbs as there source, but they isolate and use only particular properties of the herbs while increasing their strength.
This approach to symptom relief in allopathic medicine often has side effects. The body is extremely complex and works as a whole. Chinese herbal medicine, the other hand, uses many herbs together while basing their diagnosis on the patient’s pattern addressing the whole body and mind. Two patients could suffer from migraines, but in TCM the patients might have different patterns requiring different herbal formulas. Therefore Traditional Chinese Medicine treats the individual, getting to the root of their condition, not just their symptoms.
There are several other therapies we offer such as:
Which is the injection of natural substances like herbs, or ozone that strongly aids in the healing process.
Which is a suction therapy that mobilizes qi and blood flow in the superficial muscle layers.
Which is a therapy that uses an herb called mugwort. It is used to warm acupuncture points and aid in the healing process.
Infrared Light Therapy
Which is used to heat and improve circulation.
Which is high vibrational massage therapy.
The body affects the mind, and the mind affects the body. As the mind becomes healthy the body becomes healthy.
